woodwind repair & vintage instruments

Bianca's Etsy
My wife's Etsy store- a work in progress!

Sax on the Web - largest sax discussion forum on the net
The forum here is a repository of a lot of valuable sax info that I doubt is written anywhere else, if you have the patience to sift through and parse the Knowledge from the Snake Oil.

The Vintage Saxophone Gallery
The most comprehensive saxophone database. Pictures and descriptions of each model from most major and minor manufacterers from Adolphe Sax to the present. An invaluable resource.

Mouthpiece Museum
Vintage mouthpiece info and pictures, saxpics-style.

Theo Wanne - Mouthpieces 101
Want to learn about vintage mouthpieces? Here is your first stop.

Sam Ash Music
My employer. I worked for the Manhattan Pro Brass and Winds store near Times Square as their head woodwind technician for five years, and I now work at their Raleigh, NC location.

MusicMedic
Repair, repair tools, repair tips, repair supplies. Owned by Curt Altarac- one of the best in the business. Straight up honest guy, and very free with his repair knowledge.

Saxquest
Another very good sax and mouthpiece site. I've met the owner on several occasions, and I sold him his gold-plated Buescher sopranino. Very nice guy.

JunkDude - used saxophones and mouthpieces
Used and new saxophones and mouthpieces- including mouthpieces from Ralph Morgan, which I use. Really nice guy.

VintageSax.com
Vintage saxophone sales site. Run by Gayle Fredenburgh, who in addition to being a really nice lady, really knows her stuff.

Cybersax
Another very good vintage sax and mouthpiece site.

Hiscox Saxophone Cases
In my opinion, the best sax cases out there. Available for alto and tenor- no baritone or soprano, unfortunately. This is the manufacturer's website- you'll have to find a dealer in your region.

Logan Richardson
NYC saxophonist and repairman- I used to work with him at Sam Ash. Great player, if you care about sax at all you owe it to yourself to hear what unique stuff this guy is coming up with. He is also kind enough to provide all of the playtesting samples on my website. Seriously, go check him out.

Stuart Bogie
Local and traveling NYC based reed player. Makes some great music, including with Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and TV on the Radio.

Colin Stetson
NYC based reed player and a multiphonically gifted player. His recent CD "New History Warfare Vol. 1" changed my conception of the possibilities still waiting inside the saxophone.

Matt Silberman
A customer, friend, and local tenor and soprano player here in NYC.

Sam Sadigursky
Local woodwind guru and customer here in Brooklyn.

Antoine Roney
Great player and a really nice guy to boot. Seriously one of the best tenor sounds out there.

Andy Farber
NYC Saxophonist, arranger, composer, and conductor who also REALLY happens to know a lot about horns and mouthpieces.

Sax/Flute/Clarinet lessons in Brooklyn and NYC
Sam Sadigursky's teaching-oriented website. I highly recommend Sam clarinet, saxophone, or flute lessons in the NYC area.

Matt Marantz
Website of NYC-based saxophonist Matt Marantz. An almost painfully nice guy, he is also a great player and he gives lessons.

Abraham Burton
Awesome tenor player, plays a Keilwerth, and the only guy I know who owns a hand-sanded sax...

James Carter
Amazing player and all-around nice guy, he can make the saxophone do things that would surprise even Adolphe Sax.
